What should be in your Carry On? #CarryOnEssentials
Date: April 25th, 2018

When I think of packing my carry on, I always take a strategic approach. Factors such as, distance/hours I am traveling, amount of layovers, and airline determine how I pack my carry on. However, there are staples that should always be in your carry on. These are:
1.) Sweater/jacket: Airplanes get chilly! This is particularly important if it's a shorter flight and the airline does not provide blankets.
2.) Change of clothes: This is particularly important in case of emergencies. You could spill something on yourself or have an unintended layover, therefore, plan ahead and pack an extra shirt, pants, and underwear.
3.) Electronics: It's nice to have your laptop, kindle, etc but don't forget the chargers and adaptors!
4.) Book: Depending on how many hours you're traveling, having a book for entertainment won't harm. Maybe you won't be able to use your laptop or electronics because of lack of wifi or the airline has horrible inflight entertainment. With that in mind, a book is always a secure bet.
5.) Hygiene kit: I would suggest customizing your kit to fit your need. My kits consists of sanitary products, a toothbrush, toothpaste, small face towel, and of course hand sanitizer. These kits are essential because you never know what could happen while traveling.
6.) The MOST important....SNACKS: What if they've served meals on the flight and you're still hungry OR the airport food choices are not the best? Bring your own snacks! Non-perishable foods such as nuts and fruit (both fresh or dried) are always a good idea. It's also vital to stay hydrated, therefore pack a reusable water bottle.
Note: This post goes over essentials for carry on luggage. In addition to a carry on, I usually have my purse or hand bag, which contains my travel documents and other essentials.
